NAV CANADA, the country's provider of civil air navigation services, maintains the following capabilities at the Kamloops Airport:
The Flight Service Station -- located in the FSS tower atop the Air Operations Centre building -- operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Airport safety services include provision of airport advisory services, vehicle control services, monitoring of navigational aids, emergency services, alerting of Search and Rescue centers for overdue aircraft and weather observation service.
The Flight Information Centre -- also located in the Air Operations Centre building -- provides flight planning, interpretive weather briefings, en route advisory services, flight plan closing and an alerting service in case of missing or overdue flights. The staff provides resources (via telephone) for flight planning, weather and other preflight and aeronautical information. Commencing in the fall of 2003, they will also begin offering remote airport advisory services.
