Kamloops Airport announces the traveler numbers for Q1 of 2022, as compared to the same period from the previous year.

Passenger numbers for the first quarter of 2022 reflect the recovery of the aviation industry from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.  There is a known pent-up demand for leisure travel and YKA saw a significant increase in both inbound traffic to Sun Peaks and outbound travelers to sun destinations.  The gradual relaxing of pre-arrival testing requirements, along with lifting of the federal recommendation to avoid non-essential travel have also contributed the recovery. 

Although passenger traffic is still approximately 60% of pre-COVID levels, additional flights continue to be added to the schedule and we are pleased to welcome WestJet Link daily service to Vancouver on May 1, 2022. 

Passengers are reminded that full vaccination and mask requirements remain in effect for air travel, including within the terminal building.
