January 7, 2022

Kamloops Airport announces the 2021 Q4 and Year-To-Date passenger statistics, as compared to the same period from the previous year.

 20202021Change
Q4 Travelers15,27058,490+283.0%
October5,31113,230+149.1%
November4,77917,475+265.7%
December5,18027,785+436.4%
Year-To-Date123,675104,385-15.6%

The significant increases experienced in Q4 can be attributed to the return of leisure and holiday travel, as well as the ad hoc air travel needs due to the closure of highways to the lower mainland in November and December. All of our airline partners increased their capacity in response to this increased demand. The negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation and tourism sectors are expected to continue with passenger numbers currently forecast to return to pre-COVID levels in 2024.

The public and passengers are reminded that masks remain mandatory in all areas of the air terminal facilities and on-board aircraft. Additionally, proof of full vaccination is required for all domestic flights. For passengers arriving on international flights, we highly recommend that all documentation requirements are in order before arriving at the airport. We also urge passengers to complete their check-in online to limit the need for direct contact with airline personnel.

To ensure appropriate physical distancing, we ask that when possible, only passengers enter the terminal facility. Hourly parking is currently free to encourage those dropping off or picking up passengers to remain outside the terminal or at their vehicles. Long term parking customers are encouraged to use the popular and touchless PayByPhone application to complete their parking transactions.

Kamloops Airport will continue its regimen of enhanced disinfecting of high touch surfaces and provide hand sanitation stations for travelers and public within the terminal building.
