Passenger numbers for Q2 reflect the expected recovery from pre-pandemic passenger traffic at YKA and reflect the introduction of new air services of Flair Airlines which began offering non-stop service to Edmonton on June 18th. As compared to this period last year, both WestJet and Air Canada have also increased frequencies where possible to meet the summer traffic demand.

During this busy summer travel season, passengers are reminded that globally, the airline industry continues to experience challenges crew availability which continue to result in flight schedule changes and flight interruptions. Passengers are reminded to monitor flight status for schedule changes, and when making new travel arrangements, to allow sufficient connection times to allow time for potential delays. We also encourage all passengers to complete their check-in online to decrease processing and wait times at the airport.

We are also looking forward to welcoming Pacific Coastal Airlines back to Kamloops this fall with non-stop service to Victoria six days per week. This is a welcome addition to the Kamloops market and will benefit both business and leisure travel to and from the provincial capital.
