Kamloops Airport Shares Results from Air Terminal Rehabilitation Community Survey
Dec 17, 2025
Kamloops Airport (YKA) is pleased to share the results of the recent Air Terminal Rehabilitation Community Survey, launched to gather meaningful public input that will guide improvements to the terminal building. We are grateful to the 190 community members who took the time to participate and share their thoughts.
Survey responses reflected deep pride in YKA and strong support for its continued growth. Many respondents emphasized the importance of ensuring the terminal provides a welcoming first impression of Kamloops for visitors.
Approximately 77% of respondents identified the departures lounge as the highest priority for improvement, with suggestions including expanded space, additional dining options, increasing the number of washrooms, adding workstations and more charging outlets, and providing a greater variety of seating. Feedback on YKA’s accessibility was generally positive, with suggestions for larger accessible washrooms with push-button doors and improved wheelchair access to aircraft. Increased natural light was by far the strongest and most consistent response for environmental and sustainability improvements, followed by energy-efficient lighting and heating systems, and enhanced waste and recycling options. These priorities align with YKA’s overarching Environment, Social, and Governance initiatives.
“YKA sincerely thanks all respondents for their time and input. Your feedback is actively shaping the Air Terminal Rehabilitation project and ensures that the improvements made reflect the priorities and expectations of our community,” said Jim Moroz, Managing Director, YKA.
Respondents also shared feedback on flight operations and airline destinations. While outside the scope of the Air Terminal Rehabilitation project, this input remains valuable and helps YKA identify opportunities to enhance the overall traveller experience and guide future improvements.
Overall, the survey responses reflect a community that cares deeply about the airport, values its role as a regional asset, and is eager to see it thrive, grow, and continue serving the region effectively.
