Tranquille Construction Impacts to Airport Traffic: How to get to YKA through Summer 2025

This week, the Tranquille Road Sanitary Main and Road Enhancement project has moved into it’s next phase, which includes a full closure of Tranquille Rd between Crestline Street and Schriener Street. Signage in place indicates the detour route, which can be used to access the airport.

Currently, this involves turning north onto Schriener St from Tranquille Rd, following signage first to Parkcrest, then to Tranquille via Crestline. To depart from the airport, the same route is available in reverse. Ord Road remains free of obstructions, aside from additional use from local traffic. If you chose to use Ord Road to access the airport, please keep in mind the potential impacts of railway traffic.

Either of these routes will be available through the current phase of works. The next phase, scheduled for late 2025 or early 2026, will see the the location of the eastern detour point moved to Windbreak Street.

Through Summer 2025, those travelling to and from Kamloops Airport for both work and travel should expect delays and plan travel accordingly. We appreciate your patience while the City of Kamloops works to better our beautiful home.
